Wet and Gloomy May

This May has definitely been a wet and gloomy one, which has also kept temperatures below average overall. I compiled some statistics for you to demonstrate how cloudy and damp it has really been during this final month of meteorological spring.

It hasn't just been our area that's been cloudy--It's the entire Northeast! In Bridgeport, there have been 21 days of either partly cloudy or cloudy days. That means we have only had 8 sunny days since May 1st through May 29th. Boston and Albany believe it or not have actually had it worse than our area. These two cities have both had 29 days of clouds, or in short, the entire month to date has been cloudy. It's also been wet with about half of the month recording measurable rainfall.

The only positive about this active, cloudy pattern is that our year-long drought is finally gone with above average rainfall so far this May. About a third of May featured measurable rain, compiling a total of 5.13 inches, which is 1.60 inches above the average to date of 3.53 inches. The wettest day of May happened early in the month on the 5th.

Let's hope we can dry out, warm up, and see the sunshine heading into June, but as of now, at least the first half of the new month is appearing to be more bad news, unless you have been liking this recent weather.
