Winter and February In Review

February:
February was definitely a mild month with the average temperature hitting six degrees above average. It was also a dry month with almost a precipitation deficit of one inch.

That six degrees above average temperature departure ranks at the second spot for warmest Februarys on record, falling just behind 2012.

Only six days in February recorded measurable rain (at least 0.01"), and a total of 25 days featured sunshine.

Winter Season:
This winter as a whole (December 1-February 28) was also very mild, ranking at the fourth spot for warmest winters on record. Notice how the top four warmest winters have all been recorded in the 2000's:

Despite that warmth, snowfall was about eight inches above average for the season, nearing 30 inches:

Here's an interesting record for you: most days with low temperatures above freezing. Winter featured 40 days with temperatures not falling below freezing. That means the morning low temperatures were above 32 degrees, for winter!
