Friday's Record Warmth Statistics

Friday was definitely a warm and mild, abnormal winter day. Many of you probably considered it spring because it indeed felt like it. Normally, highs should reach 42 degrees in Bridgeport. Instead, it hit a record-breaking 65 degrees, which broke the previous record high of 60 degrees set last year (2016). That 65 degree high temperature is more typical for May 6th!

That wasn't the only impressive statistic from Friday, however. In Bridgeport, that temperature ranked as the second warmest February day ever recorded, falling just below the top spot of 67 degrees recorded in 1976 and 1997.

That's not all! Also in the city of Bridgeport, they tied other temperatures at the fifth spot in terms of warmest meteorological winter (December 1st through February 28th) days on record with the 65 degree high temperature. The all-time warmest winter temperature was an insane 76 degrees set in 1998.

Now in Danbury, records aren't recorded there unlike at Bridgeport, but data has been collected daily at the same location since 1998. On Friday, they hit a staggering 70 degrees! That sets the record for the warmest February day on record at that location since records began there by five degrees!

This was a rare, wild event for the area. You can expect warmer air in the days ahead, but probably not record-setting like it was this Friday.
