Most of the Northeast continues to be dry this year with many major cities recording below average rainfall to date (July 26) this year. The most significant difference compared to average is in New York City, with about five inches in rainfall deficit.

Parts of the Northeast are even in a severe drought. If you look at our area, parts are abnormally dry where other are in a moderate drought, which is worse.

Looking ahead short-term, a good amount of rain will fall across much of the Mid-Atlantic and in parts of the Northeast this weekend, easing drought conditions, but not ending it. However, looking ahead towards next week, below average precipitation will return to the forecast in the Northeast.
