We officially had our first heat wave of the year from the climate site in Bridgeport, which started last Thursday. This heat wave is expected to continue this week through Thursday.

The thing that makes this heat wave different is that it may be one of the longest heat waves on record. If you look at the graphic below, the longest heat wave ever recorded in Bridgeport, Connecticut was a week long. Then three other heat waves tied for second with six consecutive days of highs at least 90 degrees.

As of now, I'm forecasting for there to be an eight-day long heat wave in Bridgeport, which will make this the longest heat wave on record. If we don't get to eight days, then there is a good chance that we make it to the top five list for longest heat waves.

Here's a few of the major Northeast cities that are in a heat wave:

Stay tuned for Jackson's Weather for the latest on this potent record breaking heat wave.
