Dangerous Heat Wave Starts Thursday

A new, more dangerous heat wave will begin Thursday, with highs up to twenty degrees above average in the 90's and near 100 degrees.
The Climate Prediction Center already has our area and the Northeast in the moderate to high chance zone for above average temperatures during the end of the new week and into the weekend.

Both models are forecasting for there to be a heat wave from Thursday through at least the Tuesday of next week. The models are even hinting at the possibility of high reaching the 100 degree mark this coming weekend.

The U.S. GFS model is pretty similar to European model in this situation with highs forecast to be in the mid to upper 90's.

Looking ahead past Saturday, the models are in a general agreement that this heat wave may be a week long. That will be accompanied by mainly dry and humid conditions.
