Drought Worsening in Connecticut

As we get into the middle of Summer, rain is desperately needed in all of Connecticut and much of the Northeast. Right now, 60% of the state of Connecticut is abnormally dry and the remaining 40% is in a moderate drought.

Looking ahead to what we can expect short-term, not that much in the way of rainfall is expected. Only between half an inch and an inch of rain is forecast through Thursday, July 7th, and this may be overdone because there isn't much rain in my seven-day forecast.

According to the Climate Prediction Center/NOAA, they are forecasting for New England to have below average precipitation next week between July 6th and 10th.

Typically when we look at Summer patterns, what we see in the beginning of the season tends to happen all season long, so below average rainfall seems to be the story all season long with a worsening drought.

Because of this worsening drought, the state of Connecticut did issue a drought advisory on Monday, June 27th. This just means that you should take as many efforts to conserve water in your house.
