Earlier today, NOAA/National Weather Service released their official forecast for this year's Atlantic hurricane season. They are predicting for there to be a near-average season, with 10-16 named storms, 4-8 hurricanes, and 1-4 major hurricanes (category 3 or higher) likely.

This forecast excludes the rare, January hurricane that developed in the Eastern Atlantic by The Azores. This storm was named, Alex. Also, the National Hurricane Season will probably update this hurricane forecast as the hurricane season progresses.
